Behind the scenes
Here is a look at some of the behind the scenes on previous film sets and corporate gigs.
About Me
Passionate and skilled
I love sound. Acquiring high quality audio in the most effective manner is always at the heart of what I do. Production needs to be a well oiled machine and the sound department has to play its part to achieve those goals. I pride myself in having an efficient workflow that ensures time on set is used effectively and that the audio files arrive at post production in an organized and easy to work with format.
Being a professional sound recordist is only 50% of the job on set, thinking quickly on your feet while under pressure, finding solutions and working well with other departments is the other 50% I love to smile and bring a positive vibes with me to set.
I have extensive knowledge of industry standard audio gear, I also own and love to work with my own kit.
My journey with sound started in 2002, still a high school student, where I became a DJ and quickly became a favorite at many events . In 2004 I took a full time position at Xtreme Productions, a sound and staging company and within a few years I transitioned from a skilled DJ to a seasoned sound engineer mixing live stage productions and full bands at large outdoor concerts. In 2010 I started my transition away from live sound and took a 1 year full time course in photography at the National college of photography. After that year I realized photography wasn’t for me but a new passion for visual arts emerged. I returned to my roots and freelanced as a sound engineer for the next 5 years and perused videography as a hobby. In 2016 that hobby had grown and I started my own video production company: Van Vuren Imaging. Quality sound was always at the core of what we did and I took a very hands on approach when it came to sound in all our projects. In 2022 my wife and I moved to London UK and it’s exciting to indulge once more in my live long passion: mixing and recording sound.
